This is NOT a vegan establishment. However, the food I got were. I went twice within 3 days cause well… I had to. I tried their jerk wings and their impossible burger. For sides I had the cabbage and the sweet plantains. Mango tea is the way to go here.
The jerk wings came with 4 wings and 2 sides. I think for the price point they could’ve thrown in like an extra couple of wings because the non-vegan oxtail had a lot. Nonetheless where am I gonna get Jamaican food in this city 😅😅😅 The wings came on a bed of rice and peas. The sides I chose were sweet plantains and cabbage. I found the rice to be a bit dry but everything else was super delicious. The wings had a nice jerk spice, but I think it could use a bit more heat so that it tingles a little. It is made of soy protein wrapped around a sugarcane stick. Here’s what to expect: the protein itself is a bit soft on the inside, not thick and dense like actual chicken; the seasoning is good but is missing some smokiness I think and a bit more heat; and it comes with a sweet sauce on the side. The cabbage was very well seasoned. I’m usually not a fan of cabbage, but I’m so glad I gave this one a shot. The sweet plantains were rightfully chosen so they caramelized nicely.
I had the impossible burger on a different day. It comes with 1 side. Naturally I had the cabbage again. Yes, I got cabbage with my burger. I don’t care what you say but the cabbage is THAT good. The burger itself had a really good spice going on. But PLEASE if you are watching your sodium intake then tread very carefully. The salt content in the burger was almost too much to bear. I would try it again to see if it was just an off day, but it’s kind of pricey when I could get the wings that I enjoyed more.
Food was fantastic, my husband gave it the Jamaican stamp of approval. Best in the city, they definitely have gained two new loyal customers. We ate on our food for 2 days. We ordered the oxtail/jerk chicken plate and the jerk wings plate. I’m already planning my next visit this week, absolutely delicious.
The food was delicious. I was very surprised & happy . It's a little spicy but I'm ok with that. The only thing I think could have been better was the peas & rice. The chicken, cabbage & mac n cheese (which tasted more like pastaroni) was pretty good!!! I'll go back.
JJ was extremely nice and helpful. I ordered the vegetable plate (coconut rice, honey brussel sprouts, and cabbage). I enjoyed every bit of my meal. My son had the Jamaican Jerk burger, and my husband had the stewed chicken. My son couldn't enjoy the burger because it was too spicy for him. My husband enjoyed his chicken. We both agreed that the rice could have used more seasoning. I do highly recommend eating here.
We ordered the Jerk chicken with plantains , mac & cheese and beef patties(3.) everything was absolutely delicious. The staff was really friendly. while waiting for our food, I noticed that the bar was stocked with a lot of really great beers and liquors. Can’t wait to come back.
This place is a neighborhood joint where I guess it’s assume that the people may not need or want to be greeted when they walk through the door , as in “welcome , what kind I get for you today ?“…the reviews is what motivated me to try out the place . Most of the appetizers on the menu were not available (only 3 to choose from ), which was not so bad. I ordered the ox tail (25.00), and what I got was a bunch of chopped up bones with hardly any meat (guess they were low on the ox tail also) The food , in my opinion, was ok, I’ve had MUCH BETTER ox tail and with meat vs bones. My experiences did not live up to the hype of the reviews
Nice little place to get some good Jamaican food. Oxtails definitely on point. Rum punch is pretty tasty as well. Prices are more than reasonable. Staff customer service was outstanding.
This was our first time, and it was delicious, friendly, and a definite go back to spot. We had the pork rib plate and the oxtails plate. Both with mac and cheese and one with potatoe salad and one with cabbage. A side of plantains. The …
